We anticipate receiving many proposals for the 2008 experimental campaign across a broad spectrum of research topics at the upcoming Research Opportunities Forum, scheduled October 16 â 18. The high priority topics identified by the Research Council for this campaign were announced previously in a memo from Dave Hill, Chair of the Research Council. The leaders for these areas will be as follows:
This leadership team was chosen following discussions with many DIII-D management and research staff. I believe that each of these individuals brings a unique strength to their area, and that as a whole, this team is representative of the breadth of expertise and national character of the DIII-D program. Leaders of the other working groups within the Physics Areas will be announced separately by the responsible Physics managers. The DIII-D Research Opportunities Forum will be held October 16 â 18, 2007 in room 15/019 at General Atomics. Please plan to attend. Chuck Greenfield is responsible for developing the schedule and process for the Forum. Instructions on how to submit your experimental proposals are found on our web site at http://web.gat.com/global/Rof2008. The task force and working group leaders have been asked to provide updated information on the anticipated content of their research areas. You can also contact the task force and working group leaders directly for more information (see information below). We will be using a process for this meeting that should encourage and facilitate remote participation by our colleagues. You can find instructions for remote participation at the same web site. Please help the Task Group and Working Group leaders as well as the Experiment Coordinator in making this a successful 2008 experimental campaign. You can begin by submitting excellent proposals at the Research Opportunities Forum web site.
