First workshop on Diagnostic Development for Burning Plasmas

Feb. 6-8, 2007
Sponsored by the US- BPO
General Atomics, San Diego
Room 15-019
Contact: Réjean Boivin boivin@fusion.gat.com

The development of diagnostic techniques for burning plasmas requires many renewed efforts in designing systems for new experiments such as ITER, and to mitigate effects encountered in such environment including high radiation and material deposition/erosion. These efforts should also include the development of new and/or alternative techniques to address specific questions and to optimize the diagnostic set in view of the next step such as DEMO.

The workshop will be held at General Atomics on Feb 6 thru 8th, 2007 (approx 2 1/2 days).

We anticipate the use of remote participation as much as possible.

The agenda will include:

  • Overview talks
ITER Diagnostics
US plans
  • Invited presentations
US tasks reports (US IPO sponsored)
Expected performance
Physics Requirements
Discussions on issues
Uncredited systems/Non US systems
  • Contributed presentations
Potential US contributions
Generic issues (mirrors, deposition, erosion, radiation effects)
Additional measurements
  • Poster session
Detailed ITER diagnostics (overall)
High priority issues (ITPA)
ITER issue cards
Individual contributions

Non US visitors should contact Lupe Cerda at cerda@fusion.gat.com immediately. US visitors should also contact Lupe Cerda ahead of the meeting to obtain a badge to come on site.

Welcome to all
